There was talk in some of the old council notes for GLR Skills/Services Exchange.

Post your links here in the comments (email in comments area will not be published) or send an email to sistarbliss[at]greatlakesrainbow.info and they will be added to the links page. Feel free to post any websites that may come to mind for informational resources. I’d like to see some links to shops or handicraft pages/blogs as I like to try and buy things from local folks when I can. I don’t know if I’m supposed to mention that sort of thing, as there’s typically no money exchanged – with the exception of Magic Hat. Trades are good too. I’ve been doing a lot of them lately. Even if someone has a shop set up, you can go there to look at the products and then contact them to work out a trade.

I’m not sure if anyone would want their contact info here (like phone number, etc.), but it’s easy to set up a blog through wordpress or blogger and set it so people can contact you privately through your profile there. FB pages work too.

Good places you can sell things online:

Yardsellr.com

(Just refresh the page if you don’t want to connect it with FB)

No fees until you sell something: FAQ

Etsy.com

I think it’s about 30cents to list something and they take 3% out when it’s sold?

Paypal Buy me buttons on Blogger Blog

That’s what comes to mind at the moment. If this post ($ related content) is out of line someone just give me a holler and I’ll remove it, lol!

25 Family members in attendance.

I. Calendar 2012

1. Love-In

Friday-Sunday Feb 3, 4 and 5, 2012 at Paul and Colleen’s (directions TBA)

start time: after coffee, Friday morning. Come prepared for sledding.

2. Spring Council

Saturday-Sunday April 28 and 29, 2012 at the Darling’s in Perry, MI

Start time: 4:30 pm

Prepping the kitchen trailer for the Annual gathering will be on the agenda.

3. Family Reunion Picnic

Saturday June 9, Gallup Park, Ann Arbor

Over the one-way bridge, follow the Huron River in the direction of flow till you reach a giant field, and we’ll be under the shady tree (most likely).

Start time: 4:19 pm

4. Annual Rainbow Gathering for Peace and Healing
July 1-7, 2012.

The consensus from the Washington gathering was for the 2012 gathering to be someplace in the White Mountains, Tennesse, Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, or Virginia.

5. No Organized Activity in the Arb

Last day of the Ann Arbor Art Fairs

Saturday July 21, 2012, 4:19 pm

If you and the family happen to be picnicking in the Arb to end out the Ann Arbor Art fairs, don’t be surprised by serendipitous meetings with friendly faces, musical instruments and picnic baskets, in the main meadow, toward the river. Because the Arb has firm rules against organized activities, we feel it is important to make sure that if folks show up there, as many often do at this time in July, they understand they are freely assembling of their own volition, and that no one will be organizing anything on their behalf.

6. Fall Clownshow

October 20 and 21, 2012, at the Darling’s in Perry, MI

Start time: 4:30 pm.

II. Other discussion items:

1. Marijuana is more legal then ever.

2. If the Turtle Soup Kitchen is to serve at Occupy Detroit (or Occupy Lansing), we’d need some Family to stay with the kitchen 24/7. Though general support was expressed for the #Occupy Movement, no one in the circle was able to haul the kitchen and stay with it for the duration. #Occupy may be more in need of expertise than equipment.

General Assembly meetings take place for Occupy Detroit Saturdays at noon and Tuesdays at 6pm.

For more information, see http://www.occupy-detroit.us

Over the years this website has moved from server to server and been through quite a few changes. Here’s a tutorial that will help you keep a backup of all of your mail in gmail. You will be able to send and receive mail through gmail, which allows up to about 7.5 gigs of storage, and has great spam protection.

If you’d like to see any of the images in this tutorial with larger size, just click on them. If you have any problems, feel free to leave a comment below.

First and foremost you’ll likely want to change the default password that was given to you. Just log into your webmail at greatlakesrainbow.info/webmail and change the password.

1. Create a GMail account.

2. Log in and click on gear icon in the top right hand corner and then click on Mail settings.

3. Under Accounts and import, click on “Add Pop 3 Email Account”

4. Enter your email address

5. Enter your email settings.

Your username is your email address, and the pop server is mail.greatlakesrainbow.info. I like to label my incoming messages with the email address, because I have multiple pop accounts set up in my gmail.

If you get a LOT of email, with images and attachments, please uncheck “leave a copy of retrieved messages on the server”. Your email will always remain in gmail. I have the accounts set up with unlimited space for email at the moment, but if it gets to be a large disk space consumption issue, the space will be changed to limited.

6. Click on Add Account

7. Send Mail As

Under the Accounts and Import tab click on “Add another email address you own”.

I always use gmail for sending…

You will be prompted to “send verification” to the pop mail account.

8. Verify Email Address

Log into your web mail at greatlakesrainbow.info/webmail and go through the verification.

Stick around to the very end of this tutorial for some final tweaks!

Confirmation Success!

9. Set default email address for composing new messages

In Settings>Accounts and Import, click on the “make default” link if you would like your newly composed messages to be your greatlakesrainbow.info email addy.

If you don’t want your default email changed, read on to find out how to choose which email account to send from when you compose new messages.

10. Compose email message and choose which email account to send it from

When composing a new message, there will be a little crop down arrow in the “From” field. If you click on it, your other email addresses will display in this section. Click on the email address you wish to send mail with and you’re good to go!

If you need help, or have any other questions regarding email setup, feel free to leave a comment or, send a message via the contact page.

If for some reason you have an aversion to gmail, there’s an alternative web mail application that allows pop accounts. One nice feature of zoho is that it supports regular folders. The interface reminds me of the classic yahoo, but free to set up pop accounts. Yahoo charges a yearly fee for pop.

The only drawback with this one would be that it has less disk space. I think the max is a gig, but I’m not positive. This only becomes a problem if you are sharing large files such as .zip files with images and such.

1. Create an email account with zoho.com

2. Log in and click on the “settings” link

3. Click on the “mail” tab and “add POP3 Account”

3. Enter your Details

Email ID and User Name should be your email address. Incoming server is mail.greatlakesrainbow.info. Port number is 110. If you want this as default account, check that box as well. You’ll see below how this part operates in the zoho email interface. If you don’t check the default box, I think the default you@zoho.com email addy will display, which is not likely the addy you want to be using as default.

Test your account.

4. Add Send Mail

Custom SMTP, SMTP server is mail.greatlakesrainbow.info and the port number is 25. Use incoming server credentials. I asked Leaf about the Secure Connection part and he said that it will be fine to set it up this way.

The screenshot below shows the default mail account at the top as my sistarbliss GLR email. At the bottom is where your other pop accounts will be listed (if you choose to add any).

You can click on them and they will slide up to the top and show a separate mail box and folder list for each address.

Saturday, July 23 2011, late afternoon to dusk.

Link to map of Arb parking location

“What are we all talking about?”
“Anything below 86 degrees is cold!”
“Valentine’s Day?”
“We lost more people than we gained.”
“Everyone is waiting for coffee.”
Coffee is poured.
Brownie-eating moment.

And it begins.

“Lovin’ you, family!!!”
There is a drum circle in South Bend on Tuesdays.

**************

AGENDA (and a few responses):

**What is going to happen to the new little trailer? Who decides? Apparently we decide. The little trailer will go to Washington if needed. There seem to be enough folks willing to commit to Washington that one or the other trailer will be going.

**Are we going to have a regional? When? Where? 1 or 2? Summer Regional over July 4 week/end (exact dates TBD), in Pigeon River Country for those unable to go to Washington. Since there are two trailers and enough gear to supply two full kitchens, one will go to Washington, the other to Pigeon River. Also, Fall Regional in Indiana, weekend of October 1, site TBA. There will be more council regarding this over the 4th (in Washington and/or Michigan, wherever folks are).

**Does anyone have a tip on a medium-size bus for sale? Some suggestions were given.

**Scouting – any ideas? Scout new site or use previous or scouted site? Pigeon River Country State Forest was consensed on, but a specific site still needs to be identified.

**How to divvy up equipment between the two trailers? There is now far more equipment than will fit in even the big trailer. When do we have a trailer-packing session? Trailer packing session will be Saturday May 14 at Dave Darling’s place outside Perry, Michigan.

*****************

Turtle Soup Jr. (little trailer) needs a first aid kit and a folding table (among other things).

Let’s get greatlakesrainbow.info up and running (Gonzo can no longer update the calendar – last time he tried, instead of updating the calendar, when he uploaded to the server, the calendar went blank). Su at one time was going to migrate the site from Lookingheart’s server in Missouri to her server in Michigan…don’t know how that’s coming along.

(UPDATE June 21, 2011: greatlakesrainbow.info is now up, but we no longer have email, though we are working on it.)
